Engine Supports In Early Morning House Fire
Sun. Jul 18th 2010

Adamsburg Fire Department (Station 10) was dispatched Wendel Road in Hempfield Township at approximately 02:40 this morning for a house fire.  Engines from Strawpump (02), Herminie (15) and Madison (18) were also sent to assist on standard first alarm.  Chief 10 arrived on scene to confirm working vacant structure fire with exposure endangerment on the Bravo and Delta side of the building.  Once fire was confirmed Ladder 6 (Fairmont-Hahntown) was dispatched to the scene with Engine 14 (Rilton) as a fill in along with support services from Hempfield Township including Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.) from Fort Allen (104).  Engine 3 was also dispatched to transfer to Adamsburg for standby.

Initial arriving Engine 15 and Quint 10 were consumed with exposure protection and it became evident additional firefighters were required to bring the fire under control. At 03:15  Engine 3 was dispatched to the scene and responded immediately from Adamsburg along with Special Service 3 out our station.  In addition to Engine 3, Engines 61 (High Park), 94 (Penn) and 19 (Yukon) were summoned to the scene.

Crews assisted in exposure protection, fire extinquishment, salvage and overhaul for another two hours or so.  The building suffered extensive damage while an exposure received minimal water damage as a result of firefighter efforts.  The cause is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
